What happens on this 5 day adventure holiday?

Monday Arrive in time for a home cooked lunch, followed by a half day coasteering, the ultimate coastal adventure – climb, swim and jump into a whole new world. Sea caves and swirling ocean swells combine to produce a truly wild environment. Watch out, it’s addictive!

Tuesday Today is a biggie, a full day sea kayaking along the Pembrokeshire coastline, a place where rocks, caves, seals, birds, waves, surf, beaches, harbours and much more make our coast a real sea kayaker’s paradise. Hone your sea kayaking skills, with the emphasis on exploration and wildlife watching along this spectacular coastline.  Enjoy a picnic lunch on a deserted beach or inaccessible (apart from by kayak) secluded cove!

Wednesday Another busy day today, in the morning you’ll take a half day surfing on one of our Pembrokeshire beach breaks, basing yourself at a beautiful beach, followed by lunch at the lodge.  For the afternoon you have a choice: either a wonderful self guided coastal walk, or an exciting kite boarding session!

Coastal Walk: have the world renowned Pembrokeshire National Park Coastal Path on the very western tip of Europe right on our doorstep. Unwind amidst the spectacular cliff top scenery and chill out amongst the wild flowers – it’s the perfect accompaniment to the adrenalin charged adventure activities. We drop you off at a choice of points along the coast and you’ll finish up at our local beach, lovely!

Kite boarding: we’ve teamed up with a local specialist to offer a half day kite boarding on the wonderful sandy expanse of Newgale beach.  Kiteboarding is the perfect ‘light wind’ complement to kitesurfing, involving similar skills without getting wet. NB As you would imagine, kiteboarding is lots of fun but VERY weather dependent!  Because of this we don’t charge you in advance for this activity, and payment of £45 can be made to the kiteboarding company when and if the activity takes place.  Also, for this activity you’ll need to provide your own transport to/from the venue.

Thursday Coasteering again, we’ll choose another of our awesome venues along the North Pembrokeshire coastline. Whether the sea is flat calm and reflecting the suns rays like a mirror, or raging and boiling as the waves pound the cliffs base, a superb coasteer can be guaranteed, with the emphasis on cliff jumping, wave dodging and rock traversing shifting according to the conditions; no two coasteers are ever the same. Hot home cooked lunch at the lodge, followed by a second amazing surf lesson where standing up can be almost guaranteed! In tumbling surf you laugh at the sky, soo much fun and you’ll learn a new skill in beautiful surroundings.

Friday We’ve partnered up with Twiggy and her team at Llanwnda Stables to offer an hour and a half horse ride where you can enjoy inspirational views of the Strumble Head peninsula from horseback.  If horse riding doesn’t rock your boat – you’re welcome to opt into an alternative activity so do just let us know in advance. Lunch at the lodge, and depart.

NB We are sorry but we are unable to offer transport to/from the horse-riding venue, so you’ll need to provide your own transport. If you are travelling here by train then taxis are available for the 15 minute drive and please do ask for taxi costs at the time of booking. Alternatively you could opt into another activity so please do ask us for more info.  Horse-riding is included in the holiday cost.

This is an outline itinerary, and is therefore subject to change for exactly when each activity will take place. This can vary according to your own preferences,  and to weather and tides on that particular week. Please contact us if you have any questions or requests.

Preseli Venture adventure holiday
Date Published: 01/09/2015
Usually when I return from holiday and set foot through the front door I feel a sense of relief and warmth to be home; this time I was genuinely sad! The week was full on and exhausting yet completely relaxed! All those that work at Preseli Venture are friendly, relaxed and welcoming. Everything is perfectly planned from the activities to meal times. Everything is clean and reasonably well appointed for a lodge. And the little touches, like the lighting of the firepit each evening, were lovely. Difficult to fault. If you want a bit of adventure I'd recommend in a heartbeat. Thank you PV!

What can we do in the evenings?

After supper you’ll be free to make the most of our awesome location, a walk through the bluebell woods to the beach comes highly recommended, and we’ll have a bonfire under the stars for you on one of the evenings. The Preseli Venture eco lodge is a great place to hang out, we have a fully licensed bar and free wireless broadband, plenty of games, and a rather fetching pool table with purple baize, as well as table football! If you want to sample the local, small and friendly hill top village of Mathry, it’s just a short walk from the lodge and will give you a real taste of rural Welsh life. From here you can look out over the Preseli Hills; the source of the ‘bluestone’ of Stonehenge.

Fancy an evening yoga class? We have teamed up with a local yoga practitioner who provides tailor made yoga classes at Preseli Venture. This is a lovely way to unwind in the evenings, stretching out your tired limbs and immersing yourself in the down to earth Pembrokeshire lifestyle.

Nathalie can provide 1-hour Power yoga sessions or 1h 30 Hatha Yoga sessions with prices starting from £8pp / hour. Just let us know if you would like to add a lovely evening of yoga to your holiday.

The ultimate in stress-relief, a calming massage. After a tiring day out enjoying yourself on the Pembrokeshire coast, what better way to unwind than a delightful massage by a local masseuse. We can book you in for a ‘sports massage’ or a ‘relaxation massage’, either here at the ecolodge or at our local wellbeing centre in St Davids.

Costs are £20 for head, kneck and shoulders and £35 for full-body.

Are there any participant restrictions?

On our Pembrokeshire adventure staycations we welcome adults of 18 years and over. The activities are open to everyone, you don’t need to have previous experience and you don’t need to be particularly outdoorsy, just come equipped with a go for it attitude and a sense of fun! Participants should have a reasonable general level of fitness and will be asked to fill in a medical declaration form on arrival at the lodge. All participants need to be happy in the water, and ideally as a minimum some basic swimming ability. Please do get in touch with any questions or concerns.
