Go for Green Travel
Our little corner of North Pembrokeshire in West Wales is well served by public transport, so if you can get to us this way, please do. The short journey to and from our local train station can be made by taxi and is inexpensive.
We are also well served with good road connectivity to west Wales with major trunk roads from the end of the M4 west of Swansea.
Public Transport in Wales
For journeys made inside Wales you can use the Travel Line Cymru Travel Planner and this handy map of rail and bus routes through Wales.
By Train
We recommend booking your train tickets as early as possible to get the best fares. Advance tickets can be purchased online at thetrainline.com, tfwrail.wales, or GWR.com. You can also call Great Western Railway on 0345 7000 125 or Transport for Wales on 0333 321 1202, or simply buy tickets at any British Rail station.
If you’d prefer to speak to a real person, we highly recommend Llandrindod Wells Ticket Office — a small, friendly Welsh booking agency that can post tickets directly to you. They’re also brilliant for GroupSave bookings (one-third off for groups of three or more). Call them on 01597 822053.
Wherever you’re travelling from, all train routes to Pembrokeshire connect via Swansea, where you can transfer to the West Wales line for services to Fishguard or Haverfordwest.
If you’re travelling from North Wales, bus routes may offer a more direct journey.
Local Train Stations
Our nearest train station is Fishguard & Goodwick, just 5 miles (10 minutes) away by car. You can pre-book a taxi with a local company such as Fishguard Taxis (01348 875129), or take a local bus that drops you at the end of our lane, about a mile from Preseli Venture.
We always recommend travelling to Fishguard & Goodwick whenever possible, as it’s much closer. However, trains only run five times a day, so if the timings don’t work for you, Haverfordwest station (15 miles away) is a good alternative with more frequent services — though taxi fares will be higher due to the extra distance.
To make things easy, tickets for Fishguard & Goodwick and Haverfordwest are fully interchangeable. You can arrive at one and depart from the other without any issue — your return ticket will still be valid.
By Bus
Preseli Venture is just a 5-minute walk from the end of the lane off the main coastal road (A487), or a 15-minute walk from Mathry village.
The T11 local bus service runs regularly between Fishguard and St Davids, making it easy to reach us — simply get off at Mathry Junction or Mathry village.
If you’re travelling from further afield in Wales, take the T5 long-distance bus to Fishguard, then transfer to the T11 for the final leg to Mathry and Preseli Venture.
Another great option is the ‘Strumble Shuttle’ (404) coastal bus service, which runs between Fishguard and St Davids, stopping at beaches and coastal villages along the way — perfect for walkers exploring the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. This service also stops at Mathry Junction, from where it’s just a short, scenic walk down the lane to Preseli Venture.
By Road
We are approximately:
- 4.5 hours from London
- 2 hours from Cardiff
- 3 hours from Birmingham
Finding Preseli Venture couldn’t be easier:
- From the M4 west, join the A48 to Carmarthen, then take the A40 towards St Clears and on to Haverfordwest
- Continue on the A40 for 9 miles to Letterston, then turn left onto the B4331 (signposted Mathry)
- Follow for 5 miles to the A487 junction, cross over and immediately turn right down the single-track lane (drive slowly)
- Pass Preseli Glamping on your left, then the Eco Barn turning — the Courtyard Cottages car park is the next left
From Cardiff Airport
Cardiff Airport is around 110 miles from Preseli Venture. If your flight arrives late, we recommend staying overnight in Cardiff and travelling to West Wales the next morning.
From the airport, take a bus or taxi to Cardiff Central Station. The T9 Cardiff Airport Express Bus runs every 30 minutes (Mon–Sat 05:00–23:30, Sun 06:00–23:30) and takes about 40 minutes.
For a private transfer, contact FlightLink Wales — the airport’s official taxi operator — on 02920 253 555 or visit their website for a quote.
From Cardiff Central, take a train to Swansea, then change for the Fishguard & Goodwick service. From there, we can arrange a 10-minute taxi or minibus transfer to Preseli Venture.
Alternatively, local taxi companies such as Rocky’s Cabs (01437 890891) offer direct airport transfers (£100–£150 one way).
Preseli Venture guests can also enjoy 10% off car hire with Rhino Car Hire, available from Cardiff, Bristol, and London airports.
