Family sea kayaking in Pembrokeshire
Looking for a family sea kayaking holiday? We offer full and half day family sea kayaking trips through to 5 day holidays, based on the beautiful Pembrokeshire national park coastline in Wales.
We’ve been offering sea kayaking trips and holidays for over 20 years, and more recently we’ve had lots of families wanting to try sea kayaking – so we’ve put together a family friendly version of our popular Sea Kayak Odyssey sea kayaking holiday, designed with the family in mind.
We have a range of kayaks to suit the needs of your family – from various sizes and designs of closed cockpit kayaks including specialist sea kayaks, through to single sit on tops and double sit on tops. We have a choice of paddle craft and can offer a flexible approach to your kayaking depending on the age and size of your family members, your previous experience, your personal preference and the all important weather conditions!
No sea kayaking experience is required for the family adventure day or the Family Sea Kayak Odyssey holiday. You’ll just need to come prepared with a reasonable degree of fitness, lots of enthusiasm and a willingness to give sea kayaking a go!
These trips run with a maximum of 10 sea kayakers at a time, who will be accompanied by our qualified, experienced sea kayak guides.

What’s special about sea kayaking?
The sea kayak really is an incredible way to explore the coastline: low impact, quiet and an amazing way to see wildlife. Our family sea kayaking adventures are a great way to introduce your family to the delights of sea kayaking in Pembrokeshire, Wales.
Our trips suit total beginners through to those who already have some paddling experience.
On these trips you’ll have the opportunity to explore the wild and beautiful coastline of north Pembrokeshire, paddle beneath towering sea cliffs and into echoing sea caves, enjoy picnic lunches on secluded coves, and if you’re lucky you’ll find yourself paddling with Atlantic grey seals. Unforgettable experiences await you as you kayak through amazing rock gardens, and enjoy the exhilaration of rock-hopping through the waves. You will also develop your paddling strokes and rescue techniques.
The Family Sea Kayak Odyssey is a totally inspirational adventure experience in the wild, and a truly memorable way to spend quality time with your family.
What sort of trips do you provide and when do you run these events?
We run this holiday during the same week as our family adventure holidays, so if you’d like to join us for some additional activities (coasteering is always very popular!) just let us know and we can add these to your schedule.
These events run from Monday (evening arrival) with 2 or 3 days paddling depending on what you fancy – or stay with us for the 4 nights and add on the extra delights of coasteering and surfing, and possibly horse riding and kite boarding to your holiday too 🙂
Event dates 2017
We are running a Family Sea Kayaking Holiday on July 31 – August 4 and have Family Adventure Holidays throughout the school holidays.

What can we do in the evenings?
After supper in the evenings you’ll be free to make the most of our awesome location, a moonlit frolic on the beach comes highly recommended, and we’ll have a bonfire and toast marshmallows under the stars on one of the evenings.
The Preseli Venture lodge is a great place to hang out, in the lounge we have a big pile of board games and books, there is a pool table in the bar area, outdoor table football, and plenty of outdoor play areas for kicking a ball around. We have a fully licensed bar so if the adults fancy a bevvie they’re most welcome, and if the kids really can’t live without internet access we have free wireless broadband! For music lovers we have Spotify pre-mium, and an awesome sound system with ipod docking. New for 2013 we are also offering evening archery sessions, so do ask about this if you are interested.
What’s the best way to travel to Preseli Venture, and when do I need to arrive?
We do encourage you to take public transport if you can – we offer a free train station transfer to the PV lodge from Fishguard, our local train station, at 6.30pm on the first evening, arriving at the lodge in time for a tasty evening meal at 7.00pm. If you’re arriving by car, please do arrive any time after 5.00pm for dinner at 7.00pm. If you need to arrive later no problem there will be someone here to welcome you in up to 10.00pm. For your return journey there is a train out of Haverfordwest at approx 5.50pm. If you’d like to stay at the lodge for additional nights you’re very welcome, please do contact us for more details and prices.
What do I need to wear and what equipment will you supply?
We’ll provide you with a kayaking ‘long john wetsuit’ underneath which you’ll wear your own bathing suit and a woollen or fleece sweater or thermal top. We’ll supply kayak jackets, buoyancy aids, wetsuit boots and a helmet so that you’ll be warm, safely floaty and well protected.
