New for 2012 – this year, based on feedback from 2011, we’re giving families a choice of pace.

Choose an action packed holiday with a variety of wonderful Pembrokeshire adventures both in the sea and on dry land OR take a slightly slower pace with a full day of free time to choose your own way to explore Pembrokeshire – be it a day on any one of our wonderful sandy beaches, an excursion into the Preseli Hills for some Neolithic exploration, a boat trip around Ramsey Island (an RSPB nature reserve), or perhaps a visit to one of Pembrokeshire’s famous theme or wildlife parks.

Our family activity holidays in Wales include days of discovery, fun, and exploration on the inspirational Pembrokeshire National Park coastline and are the perfect way to spend quality time with your kids. We’ll take you out on the best adventures by day, and by night we’ll toast marshmallows on a fire under the stars, or take a moonlit frolic on the beach.

What happens on a family adventure holiday at Preseli Venture?

We have 2 family adventure holiday programmes – the Action Packed version, and the Action and Relax itinerary!

Action Packed programme

Monday: Arrive in time for a delicious home cooked lunch, followed by a half day coasteering, the ultimate coastal adventure – climb, swim and jump into a whole new world. Sea caves and swirling ocean swells combine to produce a truly wild environment. Watch out, it’s addictive!

Tuesday: We recommend getting stuck in and taking two half day adventures today. In the morning you’ll have an introductory sea kayaking session – we have a range of kayaks including closed cockpit kayaks, sit on tops and double sit on tops so there is a range of craft to choose from depending on your personal preference, your experience and the weather conditions. You’ll develop confidence, master forward paddling and turning your kayak, and get ready to take your skills and experience to the next level.  In the afternoon you’ll go surfing on blue flag beaches on beginner friendly beach breaks.

Wednesday:  NEW FOR 2012 We’ve teamed up with local kite boarding specialist The Big Blue Experience to offer a half day kite boarding on the wonderful sandy expanse of Newgale beach. Kiteboarding is the perfect ‘light wind’ complement to kitesurfing, involving similar skills without getting wet.  In the afternoon you’ll take a second sea kayaking adventure where you’ll use your new kayaking skills to take a trip along the Pembrokeshire coastline – a place where rocks, caves, seals, birds, waves, surf, beaches, harbours and much more make Pembrokeshire a real sea kayaker’s paradise

NB As you would imagine, kiteboarding is lots of fun but VERY weather dependent! Because of this we don’t charge you in advance for this activity, and payment can be made to The Big Blue Experience when and if the activity takes place. Also, this is the only activity for which you’ll need to provide your own transport, please do ask us for more info.

Thursday: Today you’ll get the chance to choose your favourite activity from the above, and hone your skills! You’ll round your adventures off with a coast path walk, we have the world renowned Pembrokeshire National Park Coastal Path on the very western tip of Europe right on our doorstep. Unwind amidst the spectacular cliff top scenery and chill out amongst the wild flowers – it’s the perfect accompaniment to the adrenalin charged adventure activities.

Friday: We’ve partnered up with Twiggy and her team at Llanwnda Stables to offer an hour and a half horse ride where you can enjoy inspirational views of the Strumble Head peninsula from horseback.  If horse riding doesn’t rock your boat – you’re welcome to opt into an alternative activity!  Lunch at the lodge, and depart.

Wednesday: We’ll leave this day free for you to take some time to explore at your own pace. Our local sandy beach, Abermawr, is just a short walk through the bluebell woods and can offer you rock pools, idyllic views, safe swimming and unspoilt tranquility; it’s the perfect spot for a family day out. Pembrokeshire also offers a plethora of activities to suit the needs and interests of all the family; whether it’s a boat trip around Ramsey Island, a fishing trip, a beach walk or ramble through ancient woodland, or a bat detecting or badger watching walk, we can point you in the right direction.

What can we do in the evenings?

After supper in the evenings you’ll be free to make the most of our awesome location, a moonlit frolic on the beach comes highly recommended, and we’ll have a big bonfire under the stars for you on one of the evenings. The Preseli Venture lodge is a great place to hang out, we have a big pile of games and books, plenty of safe outdoor play areas for kicking a ball around, we have a fully licensed bar so if the adults fancy a bevvie they’re most welcome, and if the kids really can’t live without internet access we have wireless broadband!  For music lovers we have spotify premium, and an awesome sound system with ipod docking.

What does the price include?

There is a 5% discount for family groups of 5 or more, and if you have other dates in mind, please do let us know, as we may be able to offer additional dates.

Includes 4 nights five star eco lodge accommodation, yummy home cooked food from Monday lunch to Friday lunch (with the exception of Wednesday lunch if you’re on the Action and Relax programme), guided adventure sessions as per the itineraries plus a half day hike, all specialist equipment (including winter wetsuits ALL year round, and wetsuit socks to keep you toasty warm), friendly and qualified guides, PSV qualified drivers and transport for all activities, and train station transfers for certain trains.

Dedicated adrenalin junkies may choose to ‘up the pace’ by opting into an additional adventure activity for an extra £49 (adults) or £39 (children).

We are also happy to tailor make an event to suit your family’s individual needs and interests. Let us know what floats your boat and we’ll put together a personalised adventure programme, just for you.

Are there any participant restrictions?

On our family adventure weeks we welcome families with children aged 9 years and over.  Height restrictions do apply, children do need to be 114cms tall or over, in order to utilize the adventure equipment on offer. To take part in the activities, you don’t need to have any previous experience, but you do need to have a reasonable level of fitness. All participants need to be able to swim to take part in the water-based activities.
