What’s included in a best of Wales 5 day trip?


This 5 day / 4 night trip includes 4 nights with ALL meals staying at our 5 star eco lodge, in the heart of the Pembrokeshire National Park, and 5 days of adventures and excursions to truely immerse yourself in the Welsh natural beauty, wildlife, history and culture.

Enjoy excellent Welsh hospitality and enjoy 5 days of all things Welsh. We provide minibus transport during the trip and train/bus station transfers at the start and finish. Our excursion and adventure guides are passionate about Wales and its natural beauty so there is no better way to experience the Welsh way of life. Evenings are spent relaxing a the lodge, or strolling through the woods to the unspoilt beach, watching the beautiful west Wales sunsets from our patio, sharing stories of the day with friends around a blazing campfire under the stary night sky.

Curl up with a book on our comfy sofas in front of the wood burning stove, or enjoy some Welsh drinks from the lodge bar and challenge your friends to a game of pool, table football, or monopoly!

What is the programme for this 5 day trip


The programme starts with arrival in the evening of Day 1 for a delicious evening meal. We collect you from our local train station of ‘Fishguard and Goodwick’ at 18.45.

If you can get here on the train that arrives at 13.20, please do, and enjoy a wonderful coastal walk to settle you in.

Day 2: AM surfing adventure on a wild and beautiful beach with our expert guides you’ll be standing up in no time; PM excursion to St David’s, Britains’ smallest city with its 12th centrury cathedral. We stop off to marvel at the at the ancient ‘cromlech’ or burial chamber from 2,500BC

Day 3: Full day out to visit the perfect example of an iconic Welsh castle, Pembroke Castle, birthplace of Henry V11 (father of the famous Henry V111), followed by aftrenoon visit to a Welsh brewery where you learn about brewing and sample some traditional Welsh ales.

Day 4: AM sea kayaking adventure to explore beneath the towering sea cliffs, and see sea birds and seals; PM woodland and coasal walk to include Tregwynt woollen mill, Wales’ oldest working woollen mill and shop.

Day 5: AM local walk to enjoy the coastline or coasteering or horse riding adventure to get you out exploring the inspirational coastal scenery; PM Depart. We transfer you to the lunchtime train from ‘Fishguard and Goodwick’.

Costs: £425 with 2 adventures OR £475 with 3 adventures.

Fall sea spotting can be included in september and october

Add £55 for 1 extra night of accommodation with meals.

Extend your trip, see more of Wales and stop off in Cardiff, Wales’ capital city on the way.

Preseli Venture is just 3 hours from Cardiff by train.

Alternatively head over to Ireland after Wales – take the ferry over the Irish sea from Fishguard to Rosslare in southern Ireland. From here there are buses and trains to Dublin and Cork.

When do the 5 day trips start?

The programmes start on a Monday evening or Friday evening. Typically students arrive into our local train station at 18.45, but earlier or later trains are available. You are welcome to arrive on the train at 13.45, and there are loads of lovely local walks and exploring to do during the afternoon.

How to I get to Wales?

Your travel to Wales is not included in the weekend cost. We recommend taking the train, and ticket discounts are available if there are 3 people or more. We offer a free train station transfer at 18.45 from our local station of ‘Fishguard and Goodwick’. From Paddington station in London this train departs at 13.45. Don’t worry if you need to leave later as there are other trains, with the last one leaving London at 20.15, and for later trains you may need to pay for a taxi. If you are travelling from Ireland, the Fishguard – Rosslare ferry is just 5 miles away. On Sunday we take you back to  ‘Fishguard and Goodwick’ for the train at 14.23. How does the rooming work at the eco lodge?

We have 11 different bedrooms of different sizes from rooms for 2 people, double rooms for couples, up to larger rooms sleeping 6 or 8. We allocate separate male/female rooms taking onto account friendship groups, so please do request a specific room when you book.

Do I need to be able to swim? Is this suitable for beginners?

All our adventures are open to everyone, you don’t need any previous experience, you dont need to be fit or outdoorsy, just a “go for it attitude” is more than sufficient! You don’t even have to be able to swim as the flotation jackets are super floaty. For the water adventures, you do need to be able to pull on a wetsuit and we have a huge range of sizes. Any queries regarding physical ability please do contact us.

Are all the meals included? Do you cater for vegetarians and special diets?

YES all the delicious home cooked meals and Welsh dishes are included and we are very happy to provide food for special diets including vegans, and those with allergies and food intolerances. Make sure you let us know your requirements when you book.

Is this trip open to friends who want to join me?

Yes of course, friends and family are all very welcome! If they are travelling with you they can also pay the student costs.
