Access to the cottage is via floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors that open onto a sunny patio—an ideal spot to enjoy the spectacular West Wales sunsets.

Planning Your Visit
Loom Cottage is one of four charming Courtyard Cottages at Preseli Venture, nestled in a secluded, wooded valley just one mile from the spectacular North Pembrokeshire coast. Located between Fishguard and St David’s, the cottage offers easy access to wild beaches such as Abermawr and Aberbach.
There is a wheelchair-accessible viewpoint just above Abermawr beach, boasting sweeping sea views—ideal for sunsets or sunny coastal vistas.

Getting Here by Car
From the A487 coastal road (between Fishguard and St David’s), take the B4331 towards Letterston/Mathry. At the junction at the bottom of Mathry hill, look uphill towards Mathry village. Take the single-track lane on your right. After one mile, you’ll arrive at Preseli Venture.
Parking and Access
There is a large car park signposted for Courtyard Cottage guests. From the car park:
- A gently sloping, paved and compacted gravel path leads down into the courtyard.
- The path is approximately 38 metres long.
- A wheelchair ramp provides easy access to the cottage entrance.
- The key is stored in a lockbox outside the cottage door, positioned 1.5 metres above ground level.

Getting Here by Public Transport
Preseli Venture is accessible via public transport:
- Take a train to Fishguard & Goodwick station.
- From there, catch the T11 bus, which stops at the crossroads at the bottom of Mathry hill (approx. one mile from Loom Cottage).
- From the crossroads, it’s a one-mile walk along a quiet single-track lane to Preseli Venture.

Arrival and Check-In
Loom Cottage is a self-catering property with self check-in. You may not encounter a staff member during your stay, but if you’d like to meet someone on arrival, just let us know in advance and we’ll be happy to arrange this.

MAIN ENTRANCE +
The main entrance to Loom Cottage is via double sliding glass doors, offering a maximum opening width of 104cm. The entrance is accessed by a gently sloping wooden ramp and leads directly into the open-plan living and kitchen area.
The door is operated with a key (provided in a coded key safe on the exterior wall) and features a thumb-turn lever for easy opening from the inside.
A bench is positioned approximately 1 metre from the base of the ramp. If needed, this can be moved prior to your arrival—please let us know in advance if you’d like it relocated.

OUTSIDE PATIO +
The sunny patio area at the entrance offers a peaceful spot to sit and enjoy the spectacular west Wales sunsets. From here, you can take in beautiful views down the wooded valley towards the coast and Abermawr beach.
The fire pit area and the rest of the lawn, which slopes gently towards the woods at the foot of the valley, are accessed via a set of 9 steps or a grassy slope (relatively steep).

INTERIOR LAYOUT AND FLOORING +
The living room and kitchen area are open-plan and situated on a single level with a natural slate tiled floor. A rug is placed in front of the sofa but can be removed before your arrival if preferred—please just let us know in advance.
There is a clear turning circle of 1.5 metres within the living/kitchen space.
The entrance to the bedroom features an extra-wide doorway (82cm), and both the bedroom and ensuite bathroom are on the same level as the living area. The bathroom also has a slate tiled floor and an 82cm wide door. Both doors open outwards to maximise space and ease of access.
Inside the bedroom, there is a 1.5 metre turning circle to accommodate wheelchair users. A rug is also present in the bedroom, which can be removed prior to your stay upon request.

BATHROOM +
The ensuite bathroom features a spacious walk-in shower with a removable shower bench. Please note that there is a small 3.5cm lip down into the shower area. The wall-hung basin is designed for accessibility, positioned at a height of 75cm from the floor. The toilet is equipped with fixed handrails on both sides to support ease of use and comfort.

Additional Services and Resources
Dog-Friendly Accommodation: Well-behaved dogs are welcome to stay at Loom Cottage, and the cottage and outdoor patio area are for the private use of guests.
Hidden Disabilities Awareness: Staff you may encounter during your stay recognise the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard scheme.
Lighting Options: The cottage is well lit, with the option of either full or subdued lighting in both the living room/kitchen and bedroom. The kitchen also has under-counter lights, and the bedroom includes individual bedside reading lights.
Accessible Fixtures: All internal door handles are lever-style, making them easy to use for guests with limited dexterity.
Supportive Aids Provided:
- A Fidget Pack is available in the bedside cupboard.
- A Tenura Jar Opener is provided in the kitchen for easier opening of jars and bottles.
Technology: WiFi is available throughout the cottage. The Smart TV is equipped with an Amazon Firestick; please log in using your own streaming service accounts.
Emergency Procedures
- A carbon monoxide alarm is installed in the living area due to the presence of the wood-burning stove, which provides additional warmth on cooler nights.
- The main emergency exit is via the large glass sliding entrance doors. In the event of a power cut, this exit is lit by emergency lighting.
- There are interlinked smoke detectors in both the bedroom and living room/kitchen areas.
