A serene and soulful country escape.
Named after the enchanting sweep of the nearby Strumble Head lighthouse beacon, which rhythmically darts across the night sky, Loom Cottage offers a perfectly peaceful retreat for couples, solo-travellers and small families. The space is wheelchair accessible throughout and thoughtfully designed for ease of movement.
Loom Cottage can be found on the North Pembrokeshire coast, halfway between the bustling harbour & market town of Fishguard and the historic cathedral city of St David’s. It is part of a small complex of cottages around a traditional country courtyard nestled on gentle slopes of the wooded Abermawr Valley, with views of the dramatic coastline. Adventurers can store their bikes, kayaks, surfboards and other kit in a large shed, where there are also undercover wetsuit washing and drying facilities.
Discover hidden treasures.
A delightful walk right from your doorstep takes you through the ancient Abermawr woodland to the secluded sand-and-shingle Abermawr beach, the perfect spot for sea swimming and sunset barbeques. From here, you can also join the undulating national trail of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, which wraps around the entire peninsula offering cinematic views and opportunities to watch a remarkable variety of marine wildlife and birdlife.
A charmingly cosy abode.
The open-plan kitchen-come-living room at Loom Cottage is thoughtfully designed to create an inviting, tranquil space. Slate flooring is warmed throughout by the ground-source heat pump, whilst a wood-burning stove creates a cosy corner to unwind. A large North-facing picture window leads the eye down through the wooded valley towards the sea at Abermawr.
Floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors lead from the kitchen-come-living area onto a sunny West-facing patio overlooking the rolling meadow and wild woodland. Lounge chairs and a picnic table provide the perfect spot to unwind as the sun sets, casting a golden glow over the canopy whilst the mellifluous birdsong and drumming of woodpeckers echo through the valley. There is also a fire bowl for bonfires under the stars.
Access with ease.
From the moment you arrive, Loom Cottage provides easy accessibility, with a gently sloping gravel path leading from the car park into a picturesque courtyard. The main entrance features large sliding doors, complete with wheelchair ramps for smooth access. Extra-wide interior doors ensure ease of movement, making the entire space welcoming and convenient for wheelchair users. The ensuite bathroom is designed for both luxury and accessibility, featuring a walk-in shower with a removable chair & grab rail and a low wash basin.
The modern kitchen is well-equipped with everything you need to feel nourished after an adventure on the Pembrokeshire Coast including an electric induction hob & oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and ample storage cupboards. You can add a welcome hamper when you book including fresh local milk, freshly baked bread, a loaf of bara brith, free-range eggs and homemade jams and marmalades.
The double bedroom is warmly lit, with cosy furnishings and plenty of hanging and storage space for luggage. Far from the sounds of traffic, you’ll drift off to the gentle whisper of wind through the trees and sometimes the sound of waves carried up through the valley. Loom Cottage lies in a “Dark Skies” area, occupying the lowest category on the spectrum of light pollution and thus providing dazzlingly bright cosmic visibility for those who enjoy the wonders of stargazing.
“The location is absolutely breathtaking, with beautiful coastal walks right on the doorstep”.

“This is a fabulous property in a beautiful and peaceful location. The house is in excellent condition, very well equipped, and exactly as described in the listing. It sits in a wonderfully quiet spot beside farmland, with lovely views — perfect for sitting out and watching the sunset. The Pembrokeshire coastal path is just a short walk away, and there’s even a secluded beach just down the road. This is a truly unspoilt part of Pembrokeshire and, even in peak season, it was blissfully quiet and relaxing.
We brought our Welsh Springer Spaniel and she loved it too — plenty of space, walks straight from the door, and lots of dog-friendly places to visit nearby. Sophie’s guide was especially helpful, clearly pointing out which pubs and restaurants welcome dogs, and whether they can sit inside or out.
Sophie herself was a great host: very communicative and helpful, but never overbearing. Altogether, a truly memorable and restorative holiday.”

We visited Loom Cottage with our dog, Lucy. It’s a wonderful, perfectly designed, little retreat. Clean, comfy, neat, immaculately appointed and presented, there’s nothing missing. It’s quiet, tucked away and you get gorgeous uninterrupted views straight down to the sea. Sophie has put together a fabulous welcome pack with loads of local information about activities, places to eat, dog-friendly beaches and all the essentials. If you’re looking for a relaxing break, away from the rigours of daily life, but with all the comforts of home then you’ve found it. We didn’t try any of the activities on offer, but if they’re as well organised as the cottage and our stay then I’d guess you won’t be disappointed with them either. Many thanks Sophie!

“Loom Cottage was perfect! As outdoor enthusiasts we were looking for somewhere:
1. Close to our favourite coastal spots
2. Somewhere with a bit of luxury so we could switch off and relax when not out and about
3. Somewhere that would accept our Jack Russell Terrier
Loom Cottage ticked all of these plus loads more!!
The nearest beach is a lovely 30 min walk from cottage and all other key locations less than 20 mins drive. It is easy to have an adventure somewhere new every day.
The cottage itself is modern, open plan and has everything you need plus more – we felt right at home. The vibe is spot on and we could have easily stayed for another week!
Sophie and her husband were fantastic hosts – making us feel welcome and ensuring we had everything to make our stay amazing! Thank you!
This place is a little gem and we will no doubt be back for another stay soon!”

Had the most beautiful time at Loom Cottage. The area and views were just stunning. Very large private area with seating and firepit to enjoy the surroundings. Living room and bedroom were very comfy. Kitchen had everything you would need. Lovely modern bathroom with good powerful shower. The location is so beautiful. We walked to the beach one evening for a sunset swim, and spent the day there the next day too. 20 min walk through the lanes and woodland. The cottage had a beautiful log burner. So much so, we have booked to come again at Christmas when I’m sure we can try it out!! Overall, it was the most enjoyable, happy long weekend!

What a lovely, quirky place to spend a peaceful few nights. 20 minute walk to the beach where we sat for a couple of hours in the evening sun. The view was stunning from upstairs and the ability to open the doors and side windows to let a breeze through the house was great. If you like it dark to sleep, there was no light pollution at all. Plenty of activities on offer lovely walks.

It was warm and everything was brand spanking new. The shower was incredible, the bed comfortable, and the living room was really nicely laid out. The location is great: you are surrounded by lush hills, and it is a short walk through picture-perfect woods to the beach. From there you access the stunning Pembrokeshire coast. I will be back to do Kayaking or Coasteering for sure. I was very grateful to the hosts, Sophie and Nick, for their help and hospitality. Highly recommended!
