Preseli Venture Lodge

The Preseli Venture adventure lodge is located deep in the heart of the National Park, right on the inspirational coastline, and is the perfect venue for individuals, couples, and for group accommodation in Pembrokeshire.

LODGE CHANGES FOR 2008

Preseli Venture have exciting news – we are refurbishing and enlarging our lodge.

This means we will have a great new facility with a restyled bar, dining room and lounge, beautiful outside courtyard with stunning views down the valley to sea – our nearest bay at Abermawr, lots of new showers and toilets, 4 additional double rooms and a drying room. There are even rumours of a solar powered hot-tub in the courtyard under the stars!  We will be able to accommodate 40 guests in total in the new lodge.

Phase 1 of the lodge updates - the bar and dining area is complete and has been very well received by guests old and new.  Phase 2, the shower and toilet block, is now in progress, and Phase 3, updating and extending the lodge accommodation, has also begun.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS

The end of the world is nigh!  Or you might think so, given the media preoccupation with climate change and CO2 emmissions, and with the mad scramble of organisations as they attempt to place their business goals along a continuum of 'green provision', in the hope of reaching a new ethical market niche.  Greenwash a go go!

That said, we've always been, and we remain to be, mindful of the impact of our activities on the environment - whether that be close to home in Pembrokeshire, or on a global scale.  On a basic level, Preseli Venture exists and aims to meet the needs of our clients, at a profit, in as environmentally sound a way as possible, whilst providing trade for local organisations and jobs for people living locally.

With this in mind, the new Preseli Venture lodge is built from an Insulating Concrete Formwork (ICF) system, called BecoWallForm, which is based on large hollow lightweight block components which lock together, without intermediate bedding materials, to provide a formwork system into which concrete is poured. Once set the concrete becomes a high strength structure and the formwork remains in place as thermal insulation. The building achieves a U-value – the measurement of heat lost - of 0.19W/m2K, compared to the current building standard of 0.35W/m2K. The building will therefore be very highly insulating and by its construction also extremely air-tight with no heat lost through draughts.

The other very important factor for the new Lodge will be the heating system for providing the heating and hot water. We will be able to dispense with the gas boiler as we are installing a Ground Source heat Pump. All lodge electricity is sourced from ecotricity.

OUR EXISTING LODGE

The Preseli Venture Lodge is located deep in the heart of the West Wales countryside overlooking a beautiful wooded valley and is set in 3 acres of grounds. It's just a one-mile walk through National Trust woodland to Abermawr, our local beach - stunning, unspoilt; perfect for moonlit walks and a place where seals sometimes sleep.

The Lodge provides for all your creature comforts and accommodates up to 30 people in comfortable shared bedrooms that sleep between 2 and 8 people. All beds are fully made up on your arrival with sheets, duvets and spare blankets, and the lodge is newly renovated with carpets and paintwork throughout. We are an adults only centre so all of our clients are 18+.

We have a great fully licensed bar, which stocks all of your favourite tipples as well as some interesting local brews! If you have any special requests for special beverages then please let us know and we'll try our best to get some in for you.

The lodge stays warm and cosy at all times, courtesy of our ground source heat pump and our wood burning stove. You'll find that nothing beats that apres coasteer feeling when you find yourself fresh out of a hot shower, glass of wine in hand, lounging in front of a glowing stove in our cosy lounge.

With a courtyard in which to enjoy the sunset, a sheltered bonfire site for nights under the stars, a large bar and dining area with pool table and funky pumping sound system, there is space for everyone - regardless of whether they want to 'party' or 'relax'. And all this in the middle of a beautiful coastal National Park - no one to disturb but a field of sheep on one side and cows on the other!

All the food served at the lodge is home cooked, delicious and wholesome and ingredients are sourced locally wherever possible. We can happily cater for the vegetarian diet.
