Great Weekend of Adventure April 1 – 3
What is the plan of action?
Join us for a fantastic weekend of adventuring along some of the most pristine and awe-inspiring coastlines in Europe, owned and protected for the enjoyment of everyone by the National Trust.
In a joint venture with the National Trust, we will be enjoying the awesome adventures of sea kayaking, coasteering and surfing on their wild and spectacular coastal properties, whilst also doing our bit for the environment on a “Coastal Clean Up” with a National Trust ranger.
What adventures are on offer?
Sea kayak beneath majestic sea cliffs as you explore through beautiful rock gardens, into echoing sea caves and take a break on a secluded rocky cove accessible only by kayak. Explore along the rocky coast, and climb, swim and jump into a whole new coastal world as you enjoy coasteering! Or have a go at surfing with an experienced surf coach to show you how it’s done, you’ll be standing up in no time!
We’ll have plenty of room in our kayaks to pick up bits of rubbish and fishing line that get trapped in the rocks, on the quiet coves and in the back of the sea caves. We’ll take extra bags to carry rubbish that we may find as we Coasteer along, and on the beach when we are surfing. On our coastal adventures we can hunt down the rubbish that escapes any usual clean up!
On Saturday afternoon, as part of the Coastal Clean-up weekend, we plan a beautiful coastal Hike along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Trail which will include helping us out on a beach clean at our beautiful local beach of Abermawr.
So please do join us for a full coastal clean-up adventure weekend April 1-3.
Where will I stay?
You will stay at our lovely 5 star ecolodge with cosy bedrooms, excellent home-cooked meals, bar and music, a wood burner stove to keep you warm and toasty, and beers round a bonfire under the starry night sky on Saturday night.
If I just want to join in the adventures?
Yes please do just come along for the wonderful adventures to help us celebrate the Great Weekend of Adventure throughout Wales. Lead by our local NT ranger we will go out for a half-day coasteer and a half-day sea kayak with the aim of enjoying the adventure whilst collecting as much rubbish as we can along the coast from all the inaccessible nooks and crannies.
Coasteering coastal clean-up:
This coasteering clean up will take place on Sunday morning and meet time will be 9:00am at Preseli Venture.
Sea Kayaking coastal clean up
This sea kayaking with a clean up theme will take place on Saturday afternoon with meet time of 2:00pm at Preseli Venture.
Surfing coastal clean up
Learn to surf and clean up the beach around you! Depending on the how the sea and wind conditions are on the day, we may opt for surfing instead of the sea kayaking or coasteering. Our choice of activities will also depend on what the group wants to do. It’s always good to have options to stay one step ahead of the weather!
Abermawr Beach clean
As part of our Adopt a beach scheme with the MCS, we clean our 2 lovely local beaches of Abermawr and Aberbach just one mile from Preseli Venture every quarter. So our Spring 2016 beach clean will be Saturday afternoon April 2nd . Please meet down on Abermawr beach at 4.00pm.
Who can come along and how much does it cost?
The adventures are open to everyone – adults and families (minimum age 9 years).
Adventure clean up half-day: £42 adults and £32 kids under 16 which includes adventure guide, all equipment including winter wet-suits, minibus transport for activities.
If you would like to join us for the weekend and stay at our fully catered eco lodge accommodation the full coastal clean up weekend is priced at £195 per adult.
This includes accommodation and all meals at the ecolodge from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon, 2 guided half day adventures and a self guided coastal hike.
