Kayak Coach Training

Nick Hurst is an Approved Course Provider, contracted by the Welsh Canoeing Association (WCA) to provide instructor training and assessment courses on their behalf. Therefore Nick, who is an A4 Examiner or anyone suitably qualified working under his guidance, can run instructor kayak training and assessment courses at Preseli Venture.

Personal Ability Awards;
The star tests measure your personal kayaking ability with a grading system from one star to five star, Preseli Venture can train and assess candidates for all star test awards.

Kayak Coaching Awards

Level One Coach;
two day course covering the Canoe Safety Test and Level One Assessment This award is aimed primarily at teachers and youth leaders who wish to introduce others to kayaking at a "taster" level only, using only very sheltered water sites.

Level Two Coach;
Candidates are required to attend a Level Two Coach Training Course of 2 days, and then a Level Two Coach Assessment course of one day duration.

Pre-requisites are 3 star personal ability test, Canoe Safety Test and First aid.

Level three Coach (sea)
Candidates are required to sit a Level 3 Coach Training Course of 2 days, and a level 3 Coach Assessment course of 2 days.

Pre-requisites are Level 2 coach award.
Also 4 star personal ability test, Current first-aid certificate and Canoe Safety Test.
